The homes are anticipated to range in size from one to three bedrooms. The rental product will be targeted to households that do not have the financial resources to meet the requirements for a down payment and the added expenses that come with home ownership. The for-sale product will be targeted to low- and moderate-income households. Site design, architecture, and landscaping will create a village atmosphere where people can easily mix, mingle, work, and play. The signature element and focal point of The Resort at Del Rey Oaks will be an 18-hole championship golf course on 142 acres. It will be designed by Fezler/Cowley, who designed the Monterey Peninsula Country Club, to be a dramatic and imaginative course that blends with the existing natural landscape.
This enthusiasm for the Monterey Peninsula comes in spite of long-standing drainage problems due to wet winters, underlying clay and rock conditions, and fairways plagued by dampness that can limit playability. The Resort at Del Rey Oaks will not be subject to these conditions because it is located in a warm, open, and sunny setting between the mountains and the sea, a climate that will promote year round playing conditions. |
